Silhouette Sketch Card – Step by step tutorial

Hello everyone!

This time I am back with a card exclusively made using Silhouette Cameo’s Sketch feature. I tried to incorporate the sketch marker in almost every element of the card.

IMG_9638I started off by scoring a 12″ x 4″ cream cardstock into half. I went for this light black glitter sketch marker pen to sketch the backgound. The vellum I’ve used here too is a shimmery one.

IMG_9557The background sketched on the cardstock is the file Tiles Square Sketch from the silhouette design store. The two tags that I have used for the card too is edited and cut from the background image. I also went ahead and sketched the Flower Sketch bought from the Silhouette Design store. The vellum is measured and cut at 3.5″x5.5.

IMG_9559Out with my Copic markers to color the flower image. The colors here used are Y06, Y13, Y15, YR04

IMG_9567 The green hues used for the leaves are YG03, YG13, G07

IMG_9573I decided my flower needed some dimension so I sketched, cut and colored yet another flower but this time without the leaves.

IMG_9592This is how it looks stuck on top of each other using a double sided foam tape.

IMG_9599This sentiment was a random ‘thanks’ font image I found online that I edited and sketched using the Sketch feature with the same black glitter marker and later went ahead and cut it. I also cut out two more of it but this time with just the outline of the sentiment.

IMG_9609This is how it looks stacked and stuck on top of each other. This just made the sentiment sturdy, thick and gave it a chipboard look. I later decided to color it all black and top it with some glossy accent.

IMG_9611I put them all together. I glued down the vellum using a transparent double sided acrylic foam tape. I punched some green eyelets into the tags. I also added some sequins to the background.

Here is the final outcome!

Moms don’t get sick days..

Sniffle sniffle..

The past couple of weeks have not been great for me. I got a flu a week ago and it lead to infection in my ears. It eventually lead to a bad swelling in both my ears and I have now ended up being partially deaf. I am not even kidding when I say ‘DEAF’. I mean it!! It is pathetic! To add to the misery my ENT informed yesterday that it would take a good whole month for my ears to get back to its normal self!!!

So, I have been home bound for the last few weeks. The only few times I do step out of home is for my ENT appointments or to take baby K for her evening walks.

It was during this time that one of my mommy friend on Instagram posted this image.

mom-post-getting-sick

I usually do not fall sick very often and I pray I never do. So, these are one of those rare times. So when I saw this image it got me thinking.

Being a Stay-at-home-mom I never get off days. I’ve realized, as moms we are often the last to be taken care of. When Nupie falls sick he calls up work and takes the day off to rest (which he very well deserves, I agree.) and has me to tend to him. Same goes with baby K. But what about us moms? It is just another day for us. We are so busy taking care of our loved ones and our home that we tend to overlook our illness. This thought just made me realize that we actually are the stronger sex!! At times I do not understand how and from where I get this ‘superhumaness’ in me especially when I am unwell! I guess, that is what takes to me a mother.

But yes, thank God for weekends and for having a partner like Nupie. He does make sure he eases it for me as much as he can once he is back home. I cannot thank him enough for that.

I just really hope I get better asap and get out of this pathetic state. I hate being sick!

Anyway, the good that has happened from all this is that due to all the ear pain, I have not been able to sleep which ultimately lead to finishing up a lot of pending art and craft projects.

I had started off with this Birthday card almost a month ago and just got around last week to complete it.

How cute is this Whimsy Birthday baby Girl stamp?

I’ve used Copics to color the stamped image.

Here is the inside of the card. This sentiment was written using the Silhouette Sketch Markers.

Thanks all for today!

Copics + life update

As a busy mom, I eagerly await the moments when my little one is in bed, the house is finally quiet and I get to immerse myself in creative pursuits. I agree there are some nights I get so tired by the end of the day that all I want to do is just wear my comfortable PJs, curl up and drift off to dreamland.

Over the past few months it has been quite a challenge to find the time and the mojo to make art. Eventhough mommy duties can be a bit overwhelming at times, art and craft is something that feeds my soul, so I have to and want to keep doing it.

I do try to steal few hours in the day to do what I love but my darling little daughter always manages to either grab hold of my color pencils or brushes to play with and at times ruin my work.

So, the story behind this disaster goes like this. I hand over my over enthusiastic toddler to her dad to finish up some kitchen chores and this is what I came back to. My heart just stopped beating for several seconds when I saw these in her hands. I had actually spent quite a lot of my precious time doodling those intricate flower details on to those water colored cards. *sigh*

Lessons learnt:- 1) Nothing.. absolutely no table or any platform in the house is too high for my toddler’s tiny hands anymore 2) Fathers make the worst baby-sitters. Hmph!

Anyway, without discussing anymore on it let us just get on to this pretty little card I finished just last night. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I have been trying to better my Copic skills. So here goes..

The yellow blooms used in the backgound are my favorite ones from Prima Flowers.

I think my fingers are slowly getting the hang of Copics. What do you guys think?

Clean and Simple cards

Good Morning!
I am back with my take on clean and simple cards for PPS’s March challenge.. so buckle up and get ready to be inspired. *wink*

I’ve used Graphic 45 Secret Garden pattern paper here for this card and I am absolutely in love with this paper pad. The pretty daisies are from Pocket Book Paper Pad Flower set.

I have used some glitter alphas from my stash to match the glitter in those lovely blooms.

Yet another thank you card. This one I went crazy stamping my new butterfly stamp all over the white cardstock.

I colored the one in the center one using Mister Huey’s mist in the color Ocean. I used my watercolor brush to give it the gradient effect. Must say, it was very easy to blend the mist with my brush.

This one is my favorite from the lot. Love love love the pink rose lace. These pretty trims are from Webster’s pages Sweet Note collection.

That is all folks.
Until next time.
Happy Crafting! Supplies used:
