Scrapbooking layout – Masking technique tutorial

Good Morning all!

This is Shruti here and I am here to show you how I made this very easy scrapbook layout using the masking technique.

I used my Silhouette Adhesive cardstock for the masking technique here. I cut out my daughter name ‘Krisha’ using my Cameo on the adhesive cardstock. The font I have used here is Impact.

Before you place the letters on to your cardstock make sure you stick them on back of your hand couple of times so it removes the excessive stickiness and it makes it easy to peel it off from your cardstock later. I have used the American Crafts 12×12 cardstock in Vanilla

I sprayed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on top of it. I used two colors here; Marigold and Blue skies

Once the mist dried up I used a gel pen in red to roughly trace around the letters. I did not want the letters to have a very clean look so that it gives it a handwritten effect.

Peel off the letters.

Voila! how simple is that?!

I went ahead and added a photo and other embellishments to finish off the layout.

Quick and easy cards

Hello and welcome!

I am absolutely excited to announcing the launch of PPS’s new website! It is an absolute fun and easy place to explore. if you have not checked it out yet then you should!!

So I made some cards using  the supplies PPS sent me this month. I love how my kit this month included a lot of embellishments!

This is the first card I made using them.

I have used my beautiful Martha Stewart Lattice punch here around the card outside the green pattern paper. Whereas for the die cut  used in the inside was cut using my Cameo. The blue glitter Alphas are my favorite from the PPS store and can just not have enough of it!

How cute are those salt and pepper shaker stamps from the Lawn Fawn in Love n Breakfast!! Here is a closer look at them!

The stamps used for this third card is from the same stamp set as well! All the pattern paper that I have used for the cards here are from the same paper pad; Lemon Lush from Studio Calico

I have distressed the edges of the card slightly here. The chevron pattern used on the tag is again cut using my beloved Silhouette Cameo. I added some Blue and Diamond stickles too on some of them to add some interest. The sentiment is heat embossed using some white embossing powder on vellum. The vellum was colored red using a red distress marker.

A closer look at the cute stamped image. I colored them in using my distress markers.

I hope my cards inspire you to enter PPS’s challenge this month!!

I also quickly wanted to share this altered journal I made the other day. Couple of weeks ago, I was given an opportunity to guest post for my dear friend Neelu’s blog and this is what I ended up making. If you are interested in seeing a full post including a tutorial on how to make this then make sure you check it out on her blog.

See you next time!

2013: Resolutions

Happy 2013 people!!

Wish you all a very Happy and a Prosperous New Year!

So, how did you all celebrate the new year?

I, as every other year, kick started 2013 by jotting down a list of new year resolutions with a hope to stick by them till the end of the year. Now, I realized writing down these resolutions in my diary NEVER helps. So this year I decided to get my creative brain into action and come up with a better idea to help me execute it.

I wanted the list in front of my eyes everyday so I am constantly reminded of them… and the best place obviously was the fridge in my kitchen!

I used the Maya Road Mini Rectangular Chipboard Accordion for the base and stuck a magnet behind it. The pattern papers used in this project was entirely from Authentique’s – Journey 6×6 paper pad.
The letters ‘TODAY’ is a chipboard sticker from the October Afternoon 9 to 5 collection. The chip n stick set was just perfect for this project.

I forget to drink water. Isn’t that strange?! I can go as many as a day or two without water. Does that make me an alien?! or a Camel maybe.. Disappointed smile I know how bad it is for my health and skin.. considering I have super dry skin! So, I decided this is definitely going to be my first resolution of the year.

I used a little mesh under the doily.. not sure if you can see it clearly in the photograph.

Cool eh?! I propose all you guys to try this out.. I dunno if it would really help a lot but it sure does make you feel all proud seeing this pretty thing adorn your fridge. *wink*

Welcome baby cards – Set of four (Pretty Paper Studio)

Hi y’all!

I thought of quickly dropping by and sharing with you guys a set of cards I made for PPS couple of week ago.

Here is card 1.

I’ve used multiple pattern papers here and layered them. I am going crazy with my new MS butterfly punches bought from PPS.. They are so pretty!! You might find a lot of these butterflies in my creations from now. *winks* The American Crafts POP! Microbeads in Lipgloss add a bit of texture to the card. The sentiment is heat embossed with a white embossing powder.

A simple baby card using some American Crafts Pop! micro beads and Wow! glitter powder. If you guys have never tried Wow! extra fine glitter powder yet then I must say you are missing out on something. I’ve tried so many brands of glitter but this beats them all. I am in love with it.. Its like adding powdered rhinestones to your project.. it has this jewel like quality. I also sprinkled some glitter on microbeads to get some shimmer on them too.

Card 4.

I’ve used soft pastel colors on this one. The butterflies are stamped and heat embossed on colored card stock with white embossing powder. I wanted the card to look like a photo frame so I cut out the center of the card and stuck a white card stock behind with a double sided foam tape. I wrote ‘Baby’ with glue and then poured some glitter powder on it.. How cute is that?
