Scrapbooking layout – Masking technique tutorial

Good Morning all!

This is Shruti here and I am here to show you how I made this very easy scrapbook layout using the masking technique.

I used my Silhouette Adhesive cardstock for the masking technique here. I cut out my daughter name ‘Krisha’ using my Cameo on the adhesive cardstock. The font I have used here is Impact.

Before you place the letters on to your cardstock make sure you stick them on back of your hand couple of times so it removes the excessive stickiness and it makes it easy to peel it off from your cardstock later. I have used the American Crafts 12×12 cardstock in Vanilla

I sprayed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on top of it. I used two colors here; Marigold and Blue skies

Once the mist dried up I used a gel pen in red to roughly trace around the letters. I did not want the letters to have a very clean look so that it gives it a handwritten effect.

Peel off the letters.

Voila! how simple is that?!

I went ahead and added a photo and other embellishments to finish off the layout.

Supplies used:

Silhouette Cameo

Silhouette Adhesive backed cardstock – White

American Crafts Solids VANILLA Textured Cardstock 12×12″

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Marigold & Blue Skies

Studio Calico Essentials – Green Dot

Project Life  Themed Cards – Mom

Dear Lizzy Daydreamer Treehouse Foam thickers

Martha Stewart Punch Edge Arch Lattice

Quick and easy cards

Hello and welcome!

I am absolutely excited to announcing the launch of PPS’s new website! It is an absolute fun and easy place to explore. if you have not checked it out yet then you should!!

So I made some cards using  the supplies PPS sent me this month. I love how my kit this month included a lot of embellishments!

This is the first card I made using them.

I have used my beautiful Martha Stewart Lattice punch here around the card outside the green pattern paper. Whereas for the die cut  used in the inside was cut using my Cameo. The blue glitter Alphas are my favorite from the PPS store and can just not have enough of it!

How cute are those salt and pepper shaker stamps from the Lawn Fawn in Love n Breakfast!! Here is a closer look at them!

The stamps used for this third card is from the same stamp set as well! All the pattern paper that I have used for the cards here are from the same paper pad; Lemon Lush from Studio Calico

I have distressed the edges of the card slightly here. The chevron pattern used on the tag is again cut using my beloved Silhouette Cameo. I added some Blue and Diamond stickles too on some of them to add some interest. The sentiment is heat embossed using some white embossing powder on vellum. The vellum was colored red using a red distress marker.

A closer look at the cute stamped image. I colored them in using my distress markers.

I hope my cards inspire you to enter PPS’s challenge this month!!

I also quickly wanted to share this altered journal I made the other day. Couple of weeks ago, I was given an opportunity to guest post for my dear friend Neelu’s blog and this is what I ended up making. If you are interested in seeing a full post including a tutorial on how to make this then make sure you check it out on her blog.

See you next time!

I chose one of the layouts from my favorite scrapbooker Donna. I must say it was really difficult to chose one layout from all the mind-blowing layouts she has made for PPS so far.. She is that good!

Nevertheless, I finally narrowed down to this one..

You can find more on the layout HERE..

I loved how aesthetically she has placed on the elements in the layout.. the hand drawn background with pencil colors… the placement of the photographs.. everything seems just PERFECT! Anyhoo.. Here’s the blog hop order

Make sure you visit all of them and leave some love ya? Enjoy the hop and don’t forget to leave a comment here as well. This counts as one of the stops on the hop. 🙂 Love, PPS Team

Home Improvement # 5: DIY Altered Frame Key Hanger

Finally, February.. my favorite month of the year is here. 🙂

I am here to share my inspiration for PPS February Challenge.

I made a Fame Key Hanger using some of my new Washis. I had seen a lot of pretty key holders on Pinterest and had always wanted to try making one of my own for my home. They are so much more prettier than the regular Key Hangers you get to buy from the market.

Its so simple to make.. and I insist all you guys to try one out yourself too. 🙂

I used two matching black and white Washis to wind them around the inner frame.. Don’t they make a lovely pattern together??

I then stuck some flowers cut out using my brand NEW Silhouette Cameo!! 😀 The house shaped chipboard is from the Dear Lizzy 5Th & Frolic collection.

I then used a grey cardstock for the background and topped them with the Pink Paislee Portfolio Alphabet Stickers and Dear Lizzy glitter thickers.

Now stick the inner frame with the grey cardstock..

and Voila! there you go! Your frame is ready. Now drill two or as many hooks as you want to the frame..

How cute is that?! 🙂

I hope this inspires you make one yourself..

Oh.. and did you notice our cute matching key chains! 🙂

Until next time..
