Scrapbooking layout – Masking technique tutorial

Good Morning all!

This is Shruti here and I am here to show you how I made this very easy scrapbook layout using the masking technique.

I used my Silhouette Adhesive cardstock for the masking technique here. I cut out my daughter name ‘Krisha’ using my Cameo on the adhesive cardstock. The font I have used here is Impact.

Before you place the letters on to your cardstock make sure you stick them on back of your hand couple of times so it removes the excessive stickiness and it makes it easy to peel it off from your cardstock later. I have used the American Crafts 12×12 cardstock in Vanilla

I sprayed some Tattered Angels glimmer mist on top of it. I used two colors here; Marigold and Blue skies

Once the mist dried up I used a gel pen in red to roughly trace around the letters. I did not want the letters to have a very clean look so that it gives it a handwritten effect.

Peel off the letters.

Voila! how simple is that?!

I went ahead and added a photo and other embellishments to finish off the layout.

My new blog + some old projects

Hi all!

Welcome to my new blog! I’m so excited to unveil this look of my new blog. After about almost two years with the same look, I decided to give my blog a new name and a facelift to better reflect my style and aesthetic preferences. This has been a long time in making which also explains why I have been quiet lately. I am simply in love with how it turned out. Hopefully, you guys like it too.

In the past few months I had finished quite a new projects and unfortunately due to all the work going on on my blog, I could not share them here. But you better watch-out for this space as I may just bombard you with a lot of picture heavy posts.

For now, I thought I would share with you all these two projects I finished for a couple of swaps I had participated with some beautiful fellow craft-ers here in Dubai.

The first one is an altered shadow box from Ikea.

I have used a lot of Prima flowers on this project. In the background I have used some pink felt fabric. I have also used some white gesso though some brick stencil on the panel.

Here is a close up.

The bird cage as well as the little birdie was cut using my Silhouette Cameo. Later I went ahead and heat embossed it using some gold embossing powder.. I also added some glitter in the embossing powder to get this shimmery look.

I did the same with the black frame die cut. I used some black embossing powder with some glitter on that too.

I love pearls which I am sure you can make out after seeing this project.

Now for the second project I made for another swap. This is an altered matchbox.

Those blooms are yet another Silhouette Cameo cut out. The pattern paper used on the match box are from my favorite paper pad from DCWV called the Lemon Flower Stack.

I scraped the box with sandpaper and colored it with black acrylic paint.

I filled the box with some goodies for my swap partner!

That is all for today.

See you guys in the next post!

March Challenge: Color Palette Layouts

Hiya people!

PPS is up with a very pretty color palette challenge for March and am LOVING it! Do check it out HERE.

Here are some of the layouts I made using the color theme of the month.

This is my first layout..

That’s my beautiful little niece Kiara! The first photo was taken when she was just two hours old! 🙂 How cute is she?! I just love her to bits! I wanted to make a very colorful layout for her.. so I decided to edit my photos a bit and make them a bit pale so they stand out in midst of the colorful background.

I cut out her name by running a Hero Hues Daffodil Layering Paper through my Silhouette Cameo.. and later used the Tattered Angel’s Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist.. which am currently obsessed with! The soft colors of the beautiful butterfly garland goes just perfect with my layout.

The lace background as well as the butterfly were cut using my Cameo again using theHero Hues Daffodil Layering Paper.. I’ve used multiple mists on them to go with the color theme.. I even splattered some around the layout.

Supplies used:

On to the second layout

I’ve literally played with my mists on this layout. I simply love how colorful this layout is. I started out using some watercolors in the background.. and once I had my pattern papers and embellies in place.. I went crazy using my mists all over the layout.

Of course, I had to use my Cameo to cut the sentiments and leaves… *winks*

Supplies used:

And my last layout..

On this one I decided to go with a lot of layering.

That doily you see on the layout.. My Cameo cut that too!! How cool is it?! Yes.. I know am obsessed! *winks*

The bloom used in the center is from Pink Paislee Artisan Flowers set.. I later misted some Tattered Angle mist in Meadow Green on it. I think these flowers will look even more prettier by using not one but multiple colors on it.. but for now.. I decided to go for one.. 🙂

Thats all folks!!
